Friday, April 19 – 6 pm
The Good Friday service, the “Tenebrae”, marks the crucifixion, death, and burial of Jesus. In a simple service of music and readings from the Bible, we hear the last words of Jesus. The altar is bare, and the celebratory banners of Lent are gone, symbolizing the darkness of Jesus’ death and of hopelessness in the world without God. In the end, the worshipers leave in silence to ponder the impact of Christ’s death and await the coming Resurrection.
