Vacation Bible School
June 22-25, 2004

The theme of the Vacation Bible school this summer was Hero Quest. The children studied four Bible heroes and heroines:

  • Daniel, who went into the den of lions rather than stop praying

  • Queen Esther, who saved her people from death

  • the friends of the lame man who cut a hole in the roof and lowered him to be healed by Jesus

  •  Jesus, who said a leader must be the servant of all and demonstrated this by washing his disciples' feet

Craft time involved making and decorating masks, crafting small pallets for refrigerator magnets, decorating sun visors, using 3-D decoders, and applying stickers to a box that was used to collect food for Wesley Community Center.

There were outdoor games which followed our theme, such as the popular game, hero tag. Refreshments were a popular part of Vacation Bible School!

Everyone met twice a day in the chapel for music and worship. Stories of modern day heroes were told during the chapel services, such as the story of the school class who knitted "penguin sweaters" to help save oil soaked penguins in the Anartic.

We all enjoyed Vacation Bible School and hope to follow up on some of the lessons during Sunday School classes.
