Steps to Eternal Life

The Bible says “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).  If God is speaking to your heart right now and you want to receive Christ, here is how you can do that:  

1. Admit your need.  The Bible says “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).  Say, “I am a sinner.” 

2. Be willing to turn from your sins.  Repent of the wrong you have done and stop doing the wrong. 

3. Believe that Jesus Christ loved you so much that he died for you and then rose from the grave.  

4. Prayerfully ask Jesus Christ to come into your life.  Ask him to take control of your life through the Holy Spirit. In other words, receive him as your Lord and Savior. 

AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT TO PRAY:  

“Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and I need your forgiveness.  I believe that you died on the cross for my sins.  I want you to come into my heart and into my life.  I want to put my trust in you, and I want to follow you as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name.  Amen.”  

AFTER YOU HAVE ACCEPTED CHRIST:  

1. Read your Bible every day in order to know God better.

2. Go to God in prayer and talk to God every day.

3. Tell others about Jesus Christ and what he has done for you.

4. Join a church, go to church, and serve God in a church where Jesus Christ is preached.

5. As an ambassador of Christ, demonstrate that you have new life by your love and concern for others.
